DIY: Valentine’s Earrings

Okay….I know, I know….it’s Wednesday. It has been some time since I have posted a tutorial.  With Holidays and sick children and being sick myself, blogging just wasn’t a priority.  Sorry.

Anywho….today I have for you an easy Valentine earring tutorial just in time for your night out with your favorite Valentine.  These earrings are also perfect for weddings, a Mother of the Bride gift, or Bridesmaid gifts. Or you could just keep them for yourself.  🙂

The particular materials I have used in this DIY were some I had on hand and may not be available is some areas.  All the metal components I have used are Sterling Silver. Right now, I have only seen the heart connectors in Platinum plate. They are put out by Cousin Corporation of America under the name Elegance Metals. I have not found the Metallic Rose Matte dagger beads anywhere since ordering them online almost three years ago. The site I ordered from is now out of business; however, your local mom & pop bead store will more than likely have something very similar and in similar colors.

Materials:
2 – Filigree Heart Connectors
2 – 3mm Jump Rings
2 – 6 mm Jump Rings
2 – Czech Glass Dagger Beads (your choice of color)
2 – Ear Wires
2 – Swarovski crystal flat backs in matching color (Optional)
Glue (Optional)

Tools

Tools:
Chain Nose or Flat Nose Pliers

I personally use two pair of pliers for opening and closing jump rings. Saves your nails.

Instructions:

DaggersOpen one of the 6 mm jump rings and thread it through the hole of a dagger bead, and close the ring.

Attach a 3 mm jump ring to the bottom of the heart connector and to the dagger bead.  Attach the ear wire to the top loop of the connector.  Repeat for second earring.

Without Bing

You can leave these as is or take the additional step to bling these up a bit. Apply glue to the back of the flat back crystal and press firmly against the heart. Allow 24 hours to fully dry.
